Kudremukh, a small village of Karnataka, lies in the
Chikmagalur district. It is home to some of the best coffee plantations, owing
to its fine variety of soil conducive to coffee growth. Kudremukh literally
means horse face, as a particular side of the mountain looks like the face of a
horse. The peak is about 1,894 metres above sea level.
2) AGUMBE
Agumbe is a tiny village in the Shimoga district of the
Malnad region in Karnataka. Also known as “The Cherrapunji of the South”,
Agumbe pioneers in rainforest conservation programs, trekking and tourism. It
is well known as “Hasiru Honnu” meaning green gold. This is because Agumbe has
a variety of medicinal plants that include rare species like Myristica,
Eugenia, Ficus, Hoiligarna and Garcinia.
It receives the heaviest rainfall in the South India and has
many rivers, streams and waterfalls in the area. Agumbe is home to one and only
Rainforest Research Station located in the Country.
3) COORG
Coorg, officially called Kodagu, is the most sought after
and popular hill station of Karnataka. Lying serenely amidst high mountains,
Coorg’s landscape stays misty throughout the year. The aboriginals of the place
are Kodavas. Apart from Kannada, the other two main languages of this hill
station are Kodagu and Kodava.
The best time to visit Kodagu is between October to May and
the peak season for this hill station is within February to May. Kodagu is the
largest producer of Coffee in India. Also, it is one of the places with highest
rainfall across the nation. Undulating hills covered in lush green forests and
a landscape dotted with coffee plantations, tea gardens and orange groves, this
hill station has breathtakingly stunning scenic beauty.
The popular tourist attractions in Kodagu include
Bhagamandala, Talakaveri, Nisargadhama, Dubare, Abbey Falls, Iruppu Falls and
Nagarahole National Park.
4) NANDI HILLS
Nandi Hills, also known as Nandidurg is an ancient hill
fortress situated in the Chikkaballapur district near Bangalore. Nandi Hills is
4700 ft high above the sea level and approximately 60km from Bangalore. People
like to visit Nandi Hills mainly to view the beauty of the stunning Sunrise
above the clouds in the early morning.

Karwar is the administrative headquarters of Uttara Kannada
district in Karnataka, India. It is a coastal town situated on the banks of the
Kali river which is on the west coast of the Indian subcontinent. The town lies
about 12 kilometres south of the Karnataka-Goa border and 519 km north-west of
Bengaluru. 'Karwar' also refers to the encompassing Taluk which includes the
surrounding villages. Karwar is also called as 'Kone' by locals. This name had
been tagged by British during their reign.
